Kicking off the 2010 season in usual fashion, it was off to the home of world famous announcer & race organizer Scotty Ernst at Trackside Hobbies. For this years event, 1/12 would be in action at a race that has been a TC only event for years but with WGT added just last year. CEFX's own Josh Cyrul was in attendance and took home the win in 1/12 Modified.

Being the first time running 1/12 at Trackside, we were definatly thrown a different curve. The carpet here is around 5 years old and with the countless laps run with rubber tire TC's gives the track it's own personality. That presented us with the challenge of generating enough steering to turn the fast lap times in the begginning but then to keep the car from over-steering from the 4 minute mark on.
Through qualifying it was a very close battle with AE's Kevin Herbert as we traded the TQ runs back and forth in only a few tenth incriments but each round improving 3-5 seconds as we continued to get a better handle on the track. In the end, Kevin edged me out for TQ as my adjustments for the final qualifier just weren't quite enough.
In the finals, we had great races with lots of passing and close racing. Really, it was a lot of fun and I'm sure everyone watching enjoyed the race. Luckly, the minor adjustments that I had made to the set-up really helped the drivability, consistancy and speed of my car which gave me that little extra to come out on top. It was a great first trip to the Novak Race with 1/12 racing and a great way to start off the year for CEFX and the Griffin 12!!
